General Magruder Haversack©

Square flap

In December of 1863, General Magruder
appealed to the patriotic citizens of Texas
to donate their time and effort by making
haversacks. The central quartermaster in
Texas was low on material, and therefore
could not provide these much needed
items for those soldiers who were dependent
upon the Texas depots for supplies.
In his plea, General Magruder gave specific
demintions for these haversacks, as well
as the types of material they were to be made from.
Through years of study and research of
primary artifacts, Don Smith (Trans-Mississippi Depot
Company) and I have created the 'Magruder Haversack'
based upon Magruder's own specifications.
Every haversack is made from a variety of
historicaly correct fabrics, and come with either
a one button, or two button closure, as well as a
leather strap. These haversacks are ideal for those
late war, Trans-Mississippi Depot impressions.

Haversacks are completely hand sewn.  $60
